As a 501c3 nonprofit, and a Northern Virginia based storytelling organization that has been producing storytelling shows and workshops since 2011, as well as the Women’s Storytelling Festival since 2020, Better Said Than Done is grateful for the many grants and awards we’ve received over the years.

ORACLE for Distinguished National Service

In July 2026 Jessica Robinson received an ORACLE Award for Distinguished National Service from the National Storytelling Network, in no small part because of her work as Better Said Than Done Executive Director.

Virginia House of Delegates Commendation

In March 2026, Delegate Holly Seibold (D-12) presented a formal
commendation from the Virginia House of Delegates, recognizing Better Said Than Done for its “singular contribution to the art of spoken word storytelling” and its commitment to elevating women’s voices.

WHEREAS, Better Said Than Done, Inc., created the Women’s Storytelling Festival in 2020 as the nation’s first and only storytelling festival devoted to women; and WHEREAS, Better Said Than Done recognizes that the tradition of spoken word storytelling, one of the world’s oldest art forms, has the power to build empathy and connect people to their shared humanity; and
WHEREAS, Better Said Than Done aspires to support women storytellers who bring unique and essential perspectives and lived experiences to the art of storytelling…
