SUMMARY:Huzzah! 15 Years of Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:Join Better Said Than Done on September 3rd at Jammin’ Java for Huzzah: a storytelling show celebrating 15 years of amazing stories. In the past 15 years\, we’ve heard hundreds of incredible stories and hundreds of fabulous storytellers. We’d bring them all back on stage if we could\, but for this one night\, we’re bringing back some of our favorites to help us celebrate. This show’s nine storytellers and two emcees have appeared on PBS’ Stories from the Stage\, NPR’s The Moth Radio Hour\, the Risk! Podcast\, at the Kennedy Center\, in the National Storytelling Festival\, and\, of course\, on Better Said Than Done stages. Join us for Huzzah!\, with emcees Bonnie Gardner and Jack Scheer and storytellers Nick Baskerville\, J.R. Denson\, John Kreul\, Carol Moore\, Joe Morice\, Miriam Nadel\, Ravi Pimplaskar\, Jessica Robinson\, and Delegate Holly Siebold! \nTickets Here\nJammin’ Java is located at 227 Maple Ave E.\, Vienna\, VA 22180. A full dinner and bar menu will be available before and during the show. Storytelling starts at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Get your tickets and reserve your seats now. \nThe stories may be personal\, but you will experience them as if you were there. They may be true\, despite being unbelievable. And as always\, Better Said Than Done’s storytelling show will prove that life is better in the telling. \nPerformer Bios:\nNick Baskerville tells stories and jokes in person and online. Outside of Better Said Than Done\, he has performed stories for The Moth\, The Story Collider\, and more. Nick has performed one-person storytelling shows for the National Storytelling Network (NSN) and the DC Capital Fringe. Find out more about Nick on his blog Stories\, Jokes\, and Talks with Folks: http://storiesjokesandfolks.com \nJ.R. Denson told his first story with BSTD at the Auld Shebeen back in November 2022. A few times a year\, he braves the trip all the way from DC for Virginia stories. \nBonnie Gardner performs frequently with Better Said Than Done and is a Six Feet Apart story slam winner. She has performed in the Women’s Storytelling Festival\, the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival\, Rose Valley Storytelling\, The Grapevine\, and the Connecticut Storytelling Festival. \nJohn Kreul was introduced to Better Said Than Done a decade ago by his storyteller wife and has told a few stories on BTSD stages since then in the desperate and probably misguided attempt to impress his children.  In addition to his family and stories\, John loves cheese.  He lives in Falls Church City. \nCarol Moore is a communication coach and professional storyteller who loves to educate and entertain. With a style that is comedic\, conversational\, and authentic\, she has performed with organizations such as the National Storytelling Festival\, the Women’s Storytelling Festival\, the Moth and Story District\, presenting at the John F. Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Theatre. \nJoe Morice \nMiriam Nadel has told folktales\, personal stories\, and original stories for almost 35 years. Some of her favorite venues have included the Washington Folk Festival\, Better Said Than Done\, a Hollywood art gallery\, and a campground in the Empty Quarter of Oman. She collects hats\, paper dolls\, and stories about her more colorful relatives. All of her stories are true\, whether or not they happened that way. \nRavi Pimplaskar believes the best stories don’t just entertain. They help us understand ourselves and each other. A Better Said Than Done storyteller and emcee\, Ravi blends humor\, heart\, and hard-earned life lessons into stories that explore everything from love and travel to family\, resilience\, and the unexpected moments that shape who we become. \nJessica Piscitelli Robinson is the Founding Executive Director of Better Said Than Done. Jessica has performed at the National Storytelling Festival\, and the Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival\, on WGBH’s “Stories from the Stage\,” and the Risk! Podcast\, in 4 National Storytelling Network Conferences and 5 Good Liar’s Club Festivals\, and was a featured storyteller in the Florida\, Hampton\, and Stone Soup Storytelling Festivals. Jessica is a 2023 and 2026 ORACLE Award recipient from the National Storytelling Network. Jessica has taught storytelling workshops for Story Crossroads\, The Story Center at the MCPL\, and for community and business organizations such as The Brookings Institution\, George Mason University\, George Washington University\, and The World Bank. Jessica’s writing has been published in several reviews and anthologies and she is the author of the memoir-in-stories\, Stages: My Life in Stories (Tucker DS Press). More at: https://jessicapiscitellirobinson.com/ \nSince 2015\, Jack Scheer is a storyteller and proud member of the Better Said Than Done community. He currently serves as vice president of the BSTD Board of Directors. His stories chronicle the vast array of his experiences\, from the extraordinary to the mundane – they’re are lessons to be found everywhere! He loves Hawaiian shirts\, Star Trek in all its forms\, and the Washington Commanders. \nHolly Siebold is the State Delegate from Virginia’s 12th District\, which covers Vienna\, Tysons and Dunn Loring. Prior to being elected\, she was a teacher\, consultant\, and the founder and Executive Director of BRAWS\, which has distributed over four million period products and undergarments to women and girls in crisis since 2015.
